It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Friends can be such buzzkills.  There I was, floating on a self-induced sugar coma of purloined Halloween candy, when a now former friend reminded me that there were fewer than 45 shopping days until Christmas.   My next bite of a fun size candy bar was tinged with dread resulting in an uncomfortable heaviness in the pit of my stomach.  While I prefer to pursue online bargains in the comfort of my home by the soft glow of my computer monitor, there is an abundance of brave souls who will rouse themselves on Black Friday to face the hordes of early shoppers and bitter cold to score some fantastic deals, and there are a number of apps available to assist them in their pursuits.  Two apps seem particularly useful for the Black Friday rush: GobbleGobble and TGI Black Friday. Read on for a more in-depth look at these two useful apps.

TGI Black Friday allows the user to browse the latest ads by store or category.  If one is fortunate enough to know exactly what he or she is looking for, category and search options are available.  Once an item is located, the deal can be emailed or added to a list.  A nice feature of this free app is the ability to purchase the item immediately online, although it will be at the current price and not the potential Black Friday bargain.  Some items did not list prices, which might be attributed to the stores “early bird” specials that one must just see to believe!

GobbleGobble is not a shopping app.  Users with “divide and conquer”/”take no prisoners” attitudes will revel in the app’s ability to create a detailed plan of attack.  There is no ad browsing, or in-app purchasing options.  The purpose of the app is to make lists of known items and assign them for purchase to individuals and teams (and allocate door prizes!).  The lists can contain such information as original price, tax rate, discount, rebate information and final price.

Used together, bargain hunters can increase their chances of succes in obtaining their coveted purchases come Black Friday.  Personally, I prefer Cyber Monday and the luxury of shopping from the comfort of home.
