Report: iPad Pro is on hold

ipad-pro-concept-FSMdotCOMApple has long been rumored to be working on a larger-sized tablet, often times referred to as the iPad Pro, for release early next year. But according to the infamous Taiwanese website DigiTimes, those plans have reportedly been put aside for now.

The report claims:

However, most of the large-size tablet projects face difficulties because of lack of support from related platform developers and ecosystems. Apple has also been said to shelved its large-size tablet project.

The so-called iPad Pro is expected to have a screen size in the area of 12.85 inches, which would be similar to larger tablets sold by both Samsung and Asus. Amazon also has an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire on the market, which falls under similar territory.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a report earlier this year that the iPad Pro was in development, but unlikely to launch during 2014. It’s also important to note that DigiTimes has far from the best track record at reporting rumors.

Take it as you will.
