Evad3rs credited for iOS 7.1 security fixes

iOS7-120Just hours after releasing the iOS 7.1 software update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Apple has gone ahead and published a related support document that details the security content of the new version. The document references several vulnerabilities that iOS 7.1 patches, ranging from maliciously crafted backups to the bypassing of code signing requirements…

In doing so, Apple has credited several notable figures in the jailbreaking community for discovering these vulnerabilities. The evad3rs team is responsible for four of the over two dozen security issues, the infamous Stefan Esser is behind one and various members from the Google Security Team and Chrome Security Team are named. As you might expect, that does not signal good news for jailbreak enthusiasts.

As we mentioned earlier today, anyone that is currently jailbroken on iOS 7.0.6 or below is encouraged to stay away from iOS 7.1 if they want to preserve that jailbreak. The latest version is not jailbroken, even if you have your SHSH blobs saved, and Apple has already stopped signing all firmwares not named iOS 7.1. That also means all those on iOS 7.1 betas will no longer be able to downgrade.

iOS 7.1 is available now through iTunes or Software Update.
