The iTunes Festival in London, England has long been envied by those of us on the other side of the Atlantic. A festival with top-ranking iTunes artists, sponsored by Apple, and free to stream from our iOS devices and Macs? Yes, please. The American version of the iTunes festival is appropriately going to debut at SXSW in Austin, Texas, between March 11th and 15th.
Apple® today announced the first iTunes® Festival to be held in the US, featuring an amazing lineup of global superstars, running from March 11-15. Taking place at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, home of Austin City Limits, the iTunes Festival at SXSW will feature iTunes chart toppers including Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban, ZEDD and more to come. All five nights of the iTunes Festival will be available to enjoy for free as a live and on-demand stream via the iTunes Store® on your iPhone®, iPad®, iPod touch®, Mac® or PC. Performances can also be seen in the iTunes Festival app on your iOS device or with Apple TV® in stunning HD.
Announced artists to be performing at the iTunes Festival include Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban, and ZEDD. Others are to be announced soon.
Notably, Apple gave the Apple TV an entire sentence on its official iTunes Festival website. “You can also watch on your big screen with Apple TV,” the site says. With rumors suggesting that Apple has a big Apple TV announcement coming soon, this line isn’t surprising.
Or maybe I’m overthinking this. Let me know what you think in the comments.
