Samsung reportedly out of A8 chip production

Samsung, previously one of the largest contributors to Apple’s supply chain, is reportedly out of production on the A8 chip after failing to meet yield rate expectations on the new 20 nm design. This comes by way of TechNews Taiwan. There have been rumors for years stating that Samsung would slowly become less and less important in Apple’s supply chain as the tension between the two smartphone manufacturers rose. TSMC, another chip fab company, is supposedly taking the place of Samsung, as it was able to meet Apple’s A8 yield rate tests.
