According to a report from AppleInsider this morning, Apple is finally beginning to wind down production of its legendary iPad 2 after 3 entire years of the device in the main Apple product lineup.
According to people familiar with Apple’s plans, the company has made the decision to ramp down iPad 2 production given that customers are resoundingly shifting purchases towards its more modern and capable iPads, namely the iPad mini and iPad Air.
As you’re probably aware, though, the Wi-Fi-only 16 GB iPad 2 is still available in stores for $399, and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model is also still available at $529. The device is likely only still on the shelves thanks to educational institutions and the like, but the device did in fact remain fairly popular all the way up to the launch of the iPad Air. Do you still have your iPad 2?
