Apple is going to be announcing a new TV set-top box in April, if Bloomberg‘s sources are correct. The set-top box isn’t slated to be released until later in the year, though. Apple is still negotiating with video partners and content producers, but it seems as if this project is well underway.
Apple is aiming to have the device available for sale by the Christmas holidays, though the release date could change because the company is still in the process of securing new agreements with programming and distribution partners, said two people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private.
This same box is rumored to have gaming capabilities, as well as a more powerful architecture. Expect it to cost more than the current Apple TV does.
The release date will likely be this summer or fall, even though the article only says in time for the holidays.
