As someone who fondly remembers jailbreaking his iPod touch on Firmware 1.1.1 to install the simplest tweaks and themes, it is safe to say that the quality of Cydia tweaks has come a long way over the years. Look no further than JellyLock, a popular iOS extension that was recently updated with iOS 7 and 64-bit support…
The all-new JellyLock7 brings an Android-inspired app launcher to the Lock screen on all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 7 or later. The tweak replaces slide to unlock with a circular grabber than can be dragged to open your favorite applications in a convenient manner. There are two default shortcuts to access the camera or unlock the device.
Up to five applications can be assigned as shortcuts, configurable through the tweak’s options menu in the Settings app. I personally selected Facebook, Messages, Music, Tweetbot and YouTube as my five choices, as these are apps that I consider myself to be a power user of.
Perhaps the best thing about this tweak, developed by German computer science student Max Katzmann, is that it is free on Cydia in the default BigBoss repository. There are a few additional options to configure in the Settings app, including the ability to bypass the passcode or change the size and color of the circle.
What are your favorite Lock screen extensions?
