‘Slo-mo Mod’ Cydia tweak brings Slo-Mo camera to unsupported devices

Apple is notorious for releasing a cool new feature with their latest devices. And many times, this cool new feature–though completely or partially compatible–is left out of iOS versions made for older devices. With the release of the iPhone 5s, that feature was Slo-Mo within Camera.app. A new tweak called ‘Slo-mo Mod’ brings the Slo-Mo camera to more recent models of the iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone.

It’s worth noting that certain devices are compatible with different framerate settings due to hardware limitation. iPhone 4, 4s, as well as iPad 2 and 3 are not compatible with the 60 FPS setting. Those devices must be set at 30 FPS or lower. Also, the newer devices (that aren’t the iPhone 5s) are only capable of recording at up to 60 FPS.

On top of simply enabling the Slo-Mo camera on non-iPhone 5s devices, the tweak also adds many features that enhance the Slo-Mo experience as a whole. You can set the framerate for the Slo-Mo recording regardless of which device you’re using, you can force Slo-Mo editing for all videos, and the tweak allows you adjust the volume of the slow part of the Sl0-Mo video.

If you want to use this tweak on a device other than the iPhone 5s, you also need to install the “Burst mode” tweak on Cydia made by the same developer. Parts of this tweak are required to run Slo-mo Mod, but the developer didn’t require the dependency in Cydia because those with an iPhone 5s don’t need it. The tweak is absolutely free and available right now on the BigBoss repo. Many iFans users are already reporting that the tweak works splendidly; what about you? Let us know in the comments.
