The Truffol Autograph is the best iPhone skin you can buy

I’m a fan of Truffol, an up-and-coming manufacturer of mobile accessories. I reviewed their Signature Classic, which I thought was an excellent high-end case that offered great protection and a wonderful design, but with one drawback for iPhone 5S owners.

This time, Truffol is back with their Autograph line of skins. Featuring a fantastically-slim leather design that protects the back of your iPhone and adds some “gripiness” to the aluminum and glass back of the iPhone 5 and 5S, the Autograph line is my new favorite skin for the iPhone.

As usual, Truffol is one of the classiest options available. The skin arrives in excellent packaging. Installing the skin is very easy: peel it off of the paper, and stick it on to the back of your iPhone.

This is a skin, and as such it doesn’t offer the most protection for your iPhone. I’d expect it to hold up well against minor falls, but only if the iPhone lands on its back. If it lands anywhere else, expect some damage. That’s the price of how thin the skin is.

And that thinness is wonderful. The existence of the skin is almost imperceptible in the hand. I say “almost,” because it is actually an improvement. The texture of the leather — and this is real leather here — makes it much easier to hold the iPhone without it slipping out of your hand.

The Autograph line comes in various colors, but my favorite has to be the orange (anecdotal, but this may be the classiest “burnt orange” iPhone accessory for you University of Texas fans out there). Truffol will also engrave three letters into the back of the case, which is useful to personalize the case.

So how much does this cost? Autograph Standard, which is the version I tested, costs only $18 USD. That’s cheap, considering how high-quality this product is. The Autograph Card, which allows you to store one credit card or drivers license in a small pouch, is $22 USD. The Autograph line is available for the iPhone 5 and 5S, and the Samsung Galaxy S4.

If you are in the market for a skin — and it’s a popular category of cases — look no further. The Autograph is both classy and attractive, and has various advantages over similarly priced plastic skins.
