Bloomberg: Apple’s next iPhones will feature large, curved screens

While the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5S have all been about clean edges and clearly-cut lines, it seems that the next design update will feature some new curves. Bloomberg, a publication with a decent Apple rumor track record, is stating that the Cupertino company has both a 5.5 inch and a 4.7 inch iPhone in the pipeline, and that both feature a curved display.

Two models planned for release in the second half of next year would feature larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges, said the person, declining to be identified because the details aren’t public. Sensors that can distinguish heavy or light touches on the screen may be incorporated into subsequent models, the person said.

The timeframe isn’t clear, though it is presumed that these devices would be released late next year as the iPhone 6. The relatively small screen of the iPhone 5S has been one of the largest detractors from the device, particularly when compared to smartphones like the Nexus 5 and HTC One.
