Alongside the two new iPads, Apple also released new versions of its iLife suite — iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband — at its October event.
The apps were updated across both OS X and iOS, though they aren’t at feature parity. Instead, the iOS versions tend to be fully compatible with their OS X overlords, but with a subset of features. That isn’t to say that they aren’t functional: iPhoto for iOS continues to lead the mobile photo managing game.
However, there are some downsides. There isn’t a consistent interface across the apps, and keeping iOS and OS X versions in sync with each other can still be a hassle. Personally, I’ve found the apps to be too heavy for my first-generation iPad mini to run smoothly.
How have you found the latest iLife update?
