The latest version of OS X, which has been in developer testing since WWDC in June, will be available today for the low, low price of free.
OS X 10.9 Mavericks is a mostly under-the-hood update, with special emphasis being placed upon longer battery life in portable computers. Beyond that, Mavericks also includes various power-user features, such as better multi-monitor support and file tagging. Safari and Finder have also seen updates. The visual language of OS X Mavericks remains familiar, though it is obvious that Apple is beginning to turn its design eye towards the legacy-looking apps in OS X.
