As expected, Apple has today sent out press invites for its October 22nd event. The event, which is expected to feature a slew of iPad updates including a fully redesigned full-size iPad and an iPad mini with Retina display, has been widely rumored across the blogosphere for some time now and today is finally confirmed via an official email containing the tagline “We still have a lot to cover.” Also rumored is the fitting inclusion of Apple’s new Touch ID system on one or more iPad models.
On top of the potential iPad updates, Apple’s product pipeline includes a new version of iWork, a new Apple TV, a MacBook Pro refresh, Mac OS X Mavericks, and the new Mac Pro (which debuted at WWDC). Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, who has one of the best trak records in the industry, says “the new Mac Pro, MacBook Pros, and OS X Mavericks are the most likely to appear in addition to the tablets…”
As always happens with these invites, Apple has left us wondering what the invitation’s title might mean. “We still have a lot to cover” could simply mean that Apple has a lot of announcements left to share with us (which they do), but there’s likely a hidden double meaning for the word “cover.” What do you think? Maybe we’ll see a new innovative kind of iPad cover. Let us know what you think in the comments.
