Apple today announced the sales figures for its latest pair of iPhone devices, and they’re by no means shabby. The Cupertino corporation says they have sold a record-breaking 9 million devices since the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c began shipping just three days ago.
“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”
Also worth noting in today’s press release are now-released iOS 7 adoption numbers. More than 200 million devices are now running iOS 7 according to the company, making the launch of Apple’s latest mobile operating system “the fastest software upgrade in history.”
Mixpanel continues to show how quickly iOS 7 is being adopted. The latest version of the software surpassed its predecessor days ago, and is now approaching being on 60% of all iOS devices. iOS 6 has already fallen to 40% and continues to lose share.
