Google can’t keep its upcoming smartphones under wraps as of late. A few months ago, Google chairman Eric Schmidt was caught using a Moto X — merely a rumor at the time – during a tech conference in Idaho. Now, in a new video ad promoting the latest Android 4.4 KitKat version, one frame — at about 38 seconds in — shows a man capturing a photo with an unfamiliar looking Nexus smartphone.
The mysterious handset appears to be noticeably larger than the Nexus 4, which means that this could be a first look at the next-generation Nexus 5 with a 5.2-inch screen. The device also has a larger camera lens, which lines up with Google executive Vic Gundotra’s promise to make Nexus devices with insanely great cameras. The handset is expected to launch in the fourth quarter.
