Just a short time ago, Apple sent out invitations for its next iPhone event on Tuesday, September 10th. In order to commemorate that we’ve create a gallery of Apple’s recent invites over the last three years.
On September 1st, 2009, Apple held a special fall event. There wasn’t much Apple hinted at except for acoustic guitar and its relevance to music. On the 1st Apple introduced the new iPod nano 6th generation with a 1.5″ touchscreen and an iPod Shuffle. The iPod touch 4th generation also received the long-awaited retina display and a pair of cameras. iTunes 10 with Ping and a new Apple TV were also announced.
On January 27th, 2010, Steve Jobs introduced the first generation iPad to the world. Apple’s first tablet device. The device ran its own build of iOS (iOS 3.2) and featured a 9.7″ touchscreen. The caption read “Come see our latest creation.”
The second generation iPad was hinted behind the date March 2nd, 2011. The iPad 2 was both thinner, lighter and faster than the first iPad. The device also featured a front and rear camera to FaceTime. Steve Jobs called 2011 the “Year of the iPad”.
On October 4th, 2011, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S with the intelligent voice-assistant Siri. In the invitation Apple hinted towards the iPhone with iOS icons showcasing the date and time of the event as well as the “1″ representing one iPhone announcement. The caption “Let’s talk iPhone” would have likely hinted towards both the iPhone and the voice assistant.
Though no devices were announced on January 19th, 2012 in New York city. Apple showed off publisher partnerships as well as iBooks 2 with textbook integration. iBooks textbooks allowed for interactive features like photos, diagrams and videos. Apple also showed off iBooks Author for Mac allowing you to create interactive textbooks.
March 7th, 2012, was the day Apple unleashed the ‘new iPad’ with a retina display. Apple cleverly hinted towards the display in the invite with the cleaver camera shot. The 3rd generation iPad featured a massive 2056×1536 retina display and a A5X processor to power it.
The 6th generation iPhone veil was lifted when Apple introduced the iPhone 5 on September 12th, 2012. The 12 shadowed a 5 hinting at the iPhone 5 with the caption “it’s almost here”. The stretched five would have likely hinted towards the tall 4″ display that the new iPhone featured. Apple also unveiled the 5th generation iPod touch also with a 4″ display.
On October 23rd, 2012 Apple unveiled the smaller iPad mini just over a month after the iPhone 5 introduction. The invite captioned “We’ve got a little more to show you”. The little being the smaller iPad. Apple also refreshed the iPad with a newer faster 4th generation iPad featuring the A6X processor.
