While it has been all but confirmed that Apple will be holding a September 10th media event to unveil its next-generation iPhone, it appears that a new iPad could also be in store. Bloomberg briefly mentioned in a report about an Apple Store opening in Tokyo that Apple would be introducing new versions of both the iPhone and iPad at the event next month, corroborating the same claim it made last week.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, plans to introduce new versions of its phone and tablet at a Sept. 10 event, a person familiar with the matter has said, and the company promised “several more game changers” in the product pipeline as it tries to fend off Samsung Electronics Co. and Chinese makers selling cheaper handsets.
The fifth-generation iPad is expected to have a thinner bezel akin to the iPad mini, alongside improvements to hardware specifications, and is rumored to be the only tablet that Apple launches during this calendar year. An updated iPad mini with Retina display is not expected until March or April of 2014, although reports have been mixed about the smaller 7.9-inch tablet.
