On yesterday’s episode of The Talk Show with John Gruber, MG Siegler, a Google ventures partner and former writer for TechCrunch, stated that Apple may be planning a TV-related announcement for “as soon as this November.”
Not to go into rumor central here but the latest things I’ve heard, that some sort of television product — not necessarily a television screen but something — could be coming as soon as this November. And I think there’s some surprises there about what it could actually be and I don’t know this for sure yet, but there’s been whispers about, so I’m not going to write anything about it, but there’s whispers out there that the interaction with it could be the interesting thing. People have talked about voice, but I think that that might be out the window and there might be some new way to interact with whatever this thing is.
In February of this year, Siegler noted that he was hearing “chatter” about a television product of some kind. He couldn’t at that time comment on exactly what he was hearing, but he seemed confident that something was, in fact, happening.
What could this product be? Siegler notes that it isn’t necessarily a TV screen, but could rather be a next-generation Apple TV set-top box which might be the first to ship with 3rd parties on-board to develop applications. There are also “whispers” that the way you interact with said product could be its killer feature.
