The rumored Apple television could still be pretty far off from being a reality, but let us not forget the Cupertino corporation’s first entry in to the set-top box space – the Apple TV. This morning, it appears the refurbished model of the latest generation, introduced in March of 2012, has been given made available on Apple’s online store. As of today, you can grab the latest model for just $75 plus applicable taxes – a $24 discount off retail.
With this in mind, however, I can’t with good conscious recommend you purchase the device. It has been more than a year since we’ve seen a refresh for Apple’s living room offering, and this is likely a last-minute effort to shove a bit of extra stock out the door. In light of Google’s Chromecast attempt to take over your TV, I would put money on Apple being interested in doing the same before the end of 2013.
