Despite Apple’s tomfoolery earlier this month, it seems that Facebook is still open to moving forward with Apple’s iTunes-based social network, Ping. Business Insider reports that Facebook’s CTO is “very confident” that the two companies be able to move forward. They were reportedly in negotiations over the deal for 18 long months.
At a dinner with New York media last night, Facebook CTO Bret Taylor said he is “very confident” Facebook and Apple will figure out a way to work together on Ping, Apple’s music social network.
If Ping does offer Facebook integration in the near future, it would mean that Ping… may actually be be useful. A bold claim - I know – but being able to plaster your favorite music over your friend’s news feeds could keep Ping from seeming like ‘just another social network’, and perhaps more like an extension of Facebook.
