What if you could trade in your older-model iPhone at an Apple store for cash or store credit? Would you do it? A report from Bloomberg claims that exactly this may be happening in the relatively near future. Apple is apparently teaming up with Brightstar Corp. (STAR), a mobile-phone distributor, to get the program off the ground.
While the details of the program are scarce at this point, Bloomberg is of course a fairly reliable source of information. How much will Apple be willing to pay? And what models of the phone will they take? Will they take iPads too? We don’t know. But according to the report, people familiar with the matter claim the program to be starting as early as “this month.” Maybe we’ll see it mentioned on Monday at WWDC.
How would you feel about an iPhone trade-in program?
