Instapaper Acquired by Betaworks

Instapaper, an application widely used throughout the iEcosystem by many to save web articles for offline reading, has been sold by its original creator and developer Marco Arment to Betaworks, a “company that builds companies.”

Marco Arment, who helped co-found Tumblr, has been on the App Store with Instapaper since the beginning. For many developers, he has been an example of just how a useful product and a great app can indeed earn a person’s living, as well as a very outspoken opponent of taking funding from outside sources. According to Arment, he plans on focusing on other applications now – he recently launched The Magazine, a publication built specifically for iOS – as well as on other aspects of his life.
