If you thought the 5.55-inch Galaxy Note II was massive, think again. Samsung continues to push the limits on the display sizes of what it calls smartphones, today announcing the new ginormous Galaxy Mega handset that comes with your choice of a 5.8- or 6.3-inch screen. The Galaxy Mega will first launch in Europe in May, expanding to subsequent markets thereafter.
“We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Business, Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series.”
The 6.3-inch model packs a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, 3,200 mAh battery, 8-megapixel front-facing camera and up to 64 GB of internal storage, while the 5.8-inch model has a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 8 GB of internal storage. Both models will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, akin to other Samsung Galaxy devices. Anyone actually want this?
