Apple has long had an exclusive partnership with big box electronics retailer Best Buy to have store-within-a-store concepts devoted to showcasing its products and accessories. As it continues to emerge as the e facto rival of Apple in the consumer electronics space, Best Buy has announced that it will be adding new “Samsung Experience” shops to some 1,400 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations throughout the next several months.
These retail spaces will provide Samsung with a greater opportunity to present its smartphones, tablets and other products to consumers, much to the chagrin of Apple executives. The “Samsung Experience” spaces will be as large as 460 square feet, although some outlets within Best Buy Mobile locations will be considerably smaller. For Best Buy, this presents an opportunity to combat decreasing sales and foot traffic at its retail stores.
