iPhone Nearing RoboCop Status

Here’s an awesome success story that proves how valuable smartphones can really be.

A man was visiting family hundreds of miles away from his home in Dallas when he received a notification from his iCam iPhone app, alerting him that motion had been detected in his house. He opened the app in time to see a live feed of two burglars throwing a brick through his window, and immediately called the police. A few minutes later, he was able to watch them enter his house in attempt to find the burglars. The thieves are still at large and it’s unknown whether they stole anything, but the iCam app is able to record the video stream, so there is a good chance the police will be able to find them.

The iCam app is $4.99 (plus the cost of  the security cameras themselves, and various cables or electronics you may need), which is a small price to pay to protect your valuables. It’s crazy that a cellphone can practically replace a full home security system, when just a few years ago all they were good for was playing Snake.

It’s just a shame he didn’t have one of these bad boys set up in his foyer.
