BlackBerry — formerly known as RIM — may not be in the best shape of its life, but it certainly is putting up a fight to survive in a market dominated by iOS and Android. While the initial reviews and reports of the first BlackBerry 10 device have been mixed at best, the BlackBerry 10 ecosystem is growing at a decent rate. While most reviews noted the lack of applications designed for BlackBerry 10 — the latest version of BlackBerry’s operating system; confused yet? — it was announced today that there are now more than 100,000 BlackBerry 10 applications available.
More impressive is the rate that the BlackBerry World app market is apparently growing: 30,000 of those apps were submitted within the last 7 weeks, or since the BlackBerry Z10 shipped. Other issues aside, it seems as if BlackBerry is on its way to making a viable platform. Let’s just hope that BlackBerry doesn’t forget that there is something to be said for quality, instead of just quantity.
