Bitter sweet news for Vampire fans out there: (Yes, you.) HBO will begin streaming movies and TV shows to the iPad and other mobile devices in the next 6 months. The downside? Instead of partnering with Netflix or another media hub, they will be using their own service, HBO Go, which is only be available to Comcast and Verizon FIOS subscribers. (Sorry DirecTV users!) HBO Go currently offers 800 hours per month of online programming at no additional cost.
“We would love to do a deal as well with HBO,” said Steve Swasey, a spokesman for Netflix. “Compete with us or collaborate with us, but we would much rather work with them.”
It would be nice if all the networks could get along so users could pay for one package, and use one application to watch videos, but it seems greed has won this round.
