You don’t have to buy a developer device in order to try Firefox OS, Mozilla’s open source OS and the latest platform to hit the mobile market. The OS, based entirely upon web standards, is available to anyone in the form of an extension for the Firefox web browser that may already be installed on your computer.
In order to get this up and running, simply download Firefox from Mozilla. After the browser is downloaded and installed — it’s available for Windows, Mac, and Linux — go and download this extension. After the extension is installed, you will be able to play with Firefox OS. Obviously, the experience is different, considering that you are using a mouse to navigate through a UI that is optimized for touch.
It’s definitely worth playing around with, especially if you have five minutes to kill! Thanks to forum member Zyiros for the tip!
