A collective sigh of relief was exhaled when Google Maps returned to iOS on the App Store, due to the lackluster performance of Apple Maps, but Google at the time opted to seed the SDK to a select few developers only.
The Google Maps SDK for iOS has now been updated, fortunately, allowing all third-party app developers access to the tools required to integrate the mapping service into their App Store apps. It is available from the Google API Console.
The update also brings added support for ground overlays, gesture controls and geodesic polylines, reports Matthew Panzarino for The Next Web. A sample app is available for developers to test Google Maps implementation in their apps.
