Kickstarter Releases iOS App

2013-02-14 20_22_16-Kickstarter for iPhone for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touchKickstarter brought us the Pebble, the Cosmonaut stylus, and the Glif iPhone tripod. Today, the start-up kicking company is bringing us their first official mobile app — available for iPhone and iPod touch.

The app is a whole new way to experience Kickstarter. We took things we’ve learned from the past three years of building the site, and applied them to a total redesign for the iPhone. We redesigned the project page, browse pages, and others. And we focused on making three things really useful and fun: finding new projects, keeping up to date with projects you’ve backed, and offering great tools for creators.

The app features most of the functionality you find on their website, and even includes tools that creators can use to manage their projects as well. Also, if you use the site’s social features, it will let you know when friends back the same project as you.

It notifies creators of pledges as they happen. It keeps creators up-to-date on their project’s progress and stats with the project dashboard. Most excitingly, creators can take pictures and videos with their iPhone camera and post them as project updates straight from the app, bringing backers even closer to the creative process.

Another cool feature that the app is bringing is the ability to find projects that have started close to your actual location. It’s interesting to me to find all the creative work that is going around within miles.

The app is available now for free on the App Store, and make sure to hit the source link for more information.
