Apple is undoubtedly a symbol of American corporate innovation and success. And at tonight’s State of the Union Address, President Barack Obama not only mentioned Apple and how it will be bringing production of one of its Mac lines back to American soil, but like last year, an affiliate of Apple was in attendance. That person, of course, was Apple CEO Tim Cook. Last year, Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of the late Apple co-founder, was in attendance.
President Obama boasted:
Caterpillar is bringing jobs back from Japan. Ford is bringing jobs back from Mexico. And this year, Apple will start making Macs in America again.
The light was indeed shining on Apple as a potential fuel for growth, and it will be interesting to see if from a business perspective, the company will be able to continue its efforts to bring jobs back to American soil. And like so many other situations that we have the opportunity to report, the old cliche rings true: only time will tell.
