As promised earlier today, the Evad3rs have updated their Evasi0n jailbreak tool in order to support iOS 6.1.1, which was released earlier today in order to fix certain issues – 3G connectivity, as well as other bugs – with the iPhone 4S. That means that iPhone 4S users can safely update to the new version of iOS, and then run the latest version of Evasi0n in order to jailbreak.
Given that iOS 6.1.1 actually does contain some fairly critical updates:
About iOS 6.1.1 Software Update
This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S.
The radio performance can potentially be detrimental to battery life, and can also result in the device overheating. Obviously, that isn’t good. However, updating is fairly painless.
For people with 4S wanting to update to 6.1.1: make a backup and properly restore your device in iTunes. Do NOT make an OTA update.
