Looking for a new app to help you waste time? If you’re anything like me the answer is “absolutely not.” But here I am anyway, featuring a cool new app that I found recently. It’s made by developer “Brian Michel” and it’s called “GIFd.”
The app is extremely basic in functionality, but comes packed with a beautiful and simplistic interface that makes browsing animated images (GIFs) on iOS a joy. Essentially, the app pulls random GIFs from across the internet and presents them to you, full screen, on any of your iOS devices.
Upon opening the app you are presented with a random GIF. They load fairly quickly and are presented full screen. Swiping right will reveal another GIF, but this is where the app’s polish shines through; if you spent a few seconds on the previous GIF, the next one in line should already be loaded.
Tapping on any of these full screen GIFs will present you with 3 options: “reverse,” “save,” and “share.” These three functions do exactly as you think they would, but they require an in-app purchase of $0.99. The “save” feature in particular may be worth it because saving the GIFs to the camera roll will allow you to send them via text message. And as many of you know, GIFs work wonderfully via iMessage.
The app is available absolutely free on the App Store.
