Evasi0n Updated, Natively Disables OTA

Cydia iOS Devices iDevices

The evad3rs released the long-awaited jailbreak tool evasi0n early this week, and it has since been updated twice. The first update was version 1.1 which brought a variety of fixes:

  • prevent Weather app from appearing on iPads.
  • mitigated the long reboot issue.
  • fix issue with not working after connecting multiple iOS devices
  • fix blinking of the jailbreak instructions on OS X.
  • codesigned Mac app.

But today, version 1.2 brings a crucial update to the jailbreak software; it will now disable OTA updates by default.

The full change log for version 1.2:

  • Disable OTA updates.
  • Correct timezone issue in evasi0n binary if client fails to correct it.

There’s no need to run the jailbreak again, as the fix can be obtained via Cydia by┬ásimply updating the “evasi0n 6.0-6.1 Untether” package to the latest version: 0.3-1. Alternatively, you could achieve the same effect in the form of a tweak called “Software Update Killer.”
