Further progress has been made on the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak, as official tools for OS X and Windows have now been readied. A jailbreak tool for Linux is still being developed.
According to the official website for the upcoming jailbreak — codenamed “evasi0n,” — the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak is 68-percent complete. Private beta testing still needs to be done.
It is widely expected that the highly-anticipated jailbreak will be released to the public this Sunday, which happens to coincide with the Super Bowl in the United States. But the official word is “a week out” for the release.
This jailbreak will be compatible with all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices that are running iOS 6 or later. That rules out older devices, such as the iPhone 3G, second- and third-generation iPod touch and original iPad.
