The upcoming iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak finally has an official name and website. The jailbreak is being called “evasi0n,” a fitting name chosen by the newly-formed evad3rs team, and should be released in a week or so. There is a strong likelihood that the jailbreak could launch this Sunday, in particular. The golden tweet:

This website will be the official destination for the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak, which will support Windows, OS X and Linux. As a reminder, this jailbreak will be compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 6.0 through 6.1.
There is also a link to donate to the evad3r development team behind this jailbreak, which is something that iFans recommends you do. The jailbreak itself will be provided free of charge. And, for those that may be curious, MuscleNerd has confirmed that he has chosen not to take a cut of any of the donations.
The website lists the GUI for the upcoming jailbreak tool as a work-in-progress, which seems to suggest that the actual code for the jailbreak is already complete. After the interface is finalized, the team will then move in to private beta testing. If no large bugs or issues are found there, it will likely be released to the public. While that date could be any day next week, many are hoping that Sunday is Funday.
The requirements for the jailbreak are listed below:
- 5 minutes of your time
- A computer, running Windows (XP minimum), Mac OS X (10.5 minimum) or Linux (x86 / x86_64)
- An iPhone, iPad or iPod running iOS 6.0 through 6.1 (you may check in Settings / General / About => Version)
- A USB cable to connect the device to the computer
