You get a text message. Your iPhone vibrates, and a notification appears on your lock screen. You’re in the middle of doing something, so you ignore it. Two minutes later, your iPhone vibrates again. There is that pesky notification, haunting you all over again. And, if you’re like me, you probably find double alerts quite annoying.
The reason this happens is because Apple sets notification alerts to repeat once by default. Fortunately, there is a simple solution to disable your iPhone from giving you double alerts. You could also use this method to increase the number of times alerts repeat — three, five or ten times — at two minute intervals. The simple step-by-step instructions follow.
Step 1: Tap on Settings from your home screen.
Step 2: Tap on Notifications.
Step 3: Tap on Messages.
Step 4: Tap on Repeat Alert.
Step 5: Tap on Never to disable double alerts. Or, choose another option from the list if you prefer to receive multiple notification alerts.
If you followed the steps correctly, you should now receive notification alerts just once. These instructions are based on an iPhone running iOS 6, so exact steps may vary. If you have any quick tips of your own related to notifications or alerts, be sure to share with others in the comments.
