Cost of Data Plans by Country

WIRED has an interesting infographic created by Tableau Software that shows the prices for mobile data plans around the world. The highest is in France, where users pay at least $25.47 per gigabyte. The cheapest is in Singapore, which has data rates as low as $.51 per gigabyte.

It isn’t unreasonable to expect prices this cheap in the United States. AT&T’s 2GB data plan is $25. If you were to divide this by 10 to estimate the cost of a 200MB plan, it would equal $2.5 per month; In reality, the 200MB plan cost $15 per month, a 600% relative┬áincrease┬áin price. This is the same across all carriers. Clearly, we’re being bamboozled.
