Live From CES 2013: Day One, From 32,000 Feet

CES 2013It’s finally here. Today is the big day that the annual Consumer Electronics Show — the largest of its type — kicks off in Las Vegas at 10 AM Pacific. While yesterday provided a sneak peek at what you’ll see during the show, thanks to some pre-show coverage, today is when the true excitement begins. And you’ll see it all unfold live on iFans, as I’m en route to the show as we speak. I’m typing this from 32,000 feet in the air, in fact.

If you’re unfamiliar with what CES has to offer, it is a large trade show within the Las Vegas Convention Center where new gadgets and other lifestyle accessories are shown off. The event lasts four days, today through Friday, and consists of both large companies like Samsung and Panasonic and smaller companies like Corning — set to debut its new Gorilla Glass 3 — and accessory maker Griffin.

The focus of CES coverage on iFans will be tailored towards the smaller new gadgets and accessories that companies are debuting, especially those that relate to Apple products. A lot of time will be spent in the iLounge Pavilion, which is essentially the unofficial Apple headquarters at the show. To deliver the best content, I will be attending the show by day and preparing comprehensive reports by afternoon. You’ll hear from me next later today.
