jOBS Biopic Scheduled to Hit Theaters in April

The first of two biographical films starring Ashton Kutcher is set to start showing in theaters this April, according to ArsTechnica. Open Road Films announced Thursday that it would be distributing the film, which mainly focuses on the late Jobs’ life from 1971 to 2000.

Premiering at the closing night of the Sundance film festival later this month, jOBS is directed by Michael Stern and written by Matt Whiteley.

The movie is the first of two films, and isn’t to be confused with the other Steve Jobs film that is slated to be coming soon — the one written by Aaron Sorkin and based on Walter Isaacson’s biography.

As Ars has pointed out, it’s fairly odd that both films seem to have completely ignored the most recent decade of Jobs’ life. One could argue that the 00′s were the most important years for Apple and that 3 important products — the iPhone, iPod, and MacBook Air — redefined their respective areas of technology.

What do you think about the movie? Are you interested in going to see how well Ashton Kutcher can play the character?
