Yesterday we saw a lift in restriction on the number of iPhone 5 devices a single person can buy from Apple, but today the phone has been made even more readily available. Almost three months after the device’s initial launch, the iPhone 5 is now quoted to be “In Stock” and available for immediate shipping on the Apple online store.
The phone is obviously going to be one of the most demanded items this holiday season, and it appears that Apple was able to fulfill demand just in time for the holiday rush. The iPhone 5 may be in stock now, but we probably won’t see the iPad mini reach similar availability before 2013. Apple’s online store lists the device as able to ship in “1 week” and recommends that you purchase by December 12th for delivery by Christmas.
I’ve noticed many eBay sellers taking advantage of the opportunity that has arisen due to lack of immediate iPad mini availability. Auctions even ending as we speak have the price of the Slate Wi-Fi 16 GB model of the iPad mini going for as much as $100 more than retail. It seems silly to me that there are people willing to pay that much, considering Apple has now said you will have an iPad mini on the 25th assuming you order by the 12th.
