iTunes 11 has Arrived

It’s been a long time since the day iTunes 11 was announced. Thankfully, the long-awaited update has arrived and with it comes a new icon, a new Mini player, a completely redesigned interface, and much more. The update is available through Software update or on

Interestingly, the app is also far more integrated with iCloud and takes advantage of the cloud service’s abilities. For example, if you buy a song on your iPhone, iTunes will automatically load a placeholder on the desktop, which will actually stream the song rather than download it.

Also worth noting is that the library sidebar (which has been around as long as the app itself) is now gone. It has been replaced by an equally as functional drop down menu, but if you want the old browsing method back, you can see it by going to View -> Show Sidebar.

What do you think of the update? Does it run faster? Have you run into any features that haven’t been mentioned?
