iPad Mini Demand Might Be Strong, But Fourth-Generation iPad Isn’t So Hot

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced yesterday that iPad sales reached 3 million over the weekend, a combined total that includes the new iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad. Cook may have strategically coupled those numbers together to avoid revealing less than expected fourth-generation iPad sales, as 9to5Mac noticed that the tablet is already appearing as “in stock” on Apple’s online retail store in the United States and several other countries.

The fourth-generation iPad, featuring a faster A6X processor and Lightning connector, is not overly different than the third-generation model, so perhaps consumers are not particularly interested in upgrading or will hold off until the next model launches. But if you’ve been looking to get the new iPad with Retina display, you can now order it without any delays from Apple’s website.
