Developers were given the first build of iOS 6.1 today. As such, the details of the update are slowly trickling out. The biggest changes seem to revolve around updated music controls for the lockscreen, and a more prominent “report a problem” button in the maps app. The 6.1 update is also said to improve performance, battery life, and squash bugs left over from iOS 6.0 that weren’t fixed in today’s iOS 6.0.1 update.
It’s likely that other tweaks and changes haven’t yet been noticed, so hopefully there is more to this update than what has been revealed so far. An update cycle that steadily improves the OS in .x revisions is preferable, in my opinion, to the current cycle of a major x.0 release that contains multiple “tentpole” features.
