Yes, it’s that time of the year again. Not long after the iPhone 4 made a smash entrance, supposed iPod touch G4 (generation 4) parts start showing up.
What’s even more interesting about this rumored faceplate leak is the little hole at the top. Yes, it looks to be for a front facing camera. Of course, these pictures could be completely fake and bear no merit whatsoever. But, at the same time, an iPod touch with FaceTime support could help make the 10 million users by years’ end that Apple is aiming for. Also, since FaceTime is WiFi-only for the foreseeable future, the iPod touch would have no problem supporting it. Likewise, some have pointed out the obvious lack of voice input, that would definitely be needed for any video recording. Perhaps a mic on the side, like the iPad, would remedy this. Perhaps lending some relevance to this is the fact that executives from a UK online retailer, John Lewis, came out and said that the next iPod touch would include a 5 megapixel camera with HD video recording, gyroscope, and FaceTime support.
True or not, it’s important to remember that it isn’t real until Steve Jobs is proudly holding it up. The next iPod touch, along with other iPod models, are expected to be unveiled in September.
