Sprint today reported its financial results for the third quarter, reporting sales of 1.5 million iPhones and adding 410,000 subscribers to its network.

The Sprint platform postpaid subscriber base grew for the tenth consecutive quarter, with net additions of 410,000 driven by a postpaid Nextel recapture rate of 59 percent and best ever third quarter churn. Sprint recorded approximately 1.5 million iPhone sales in the third quarter with 40 percent representing new customers. The company also surpassed 1 million LTE smartphones sold prior to the launch of iPhone 5.
Sprint failed to experience iPhone sales growth during the third quarter, as the carrier also sold 1.5 million iPhones during the second quarter. AT&T announced that it activated 4.5 million iPhones during the third quarter, while Verizon Wireless reported sales of 3.1 million iPhones. Apple is set to announce their own financial results for the past quarter at 4:30 PM Eastern.
