Many recent 3rd generation iPad buyers are upset at the unexpected boost in specs that came as the 4th generation iPad this morning. You may feel down that you won’t be getting the benefit of a faster processor and Lightning connector, but what should really upset you is Apple’s drastic price drop that is now live on the Apple Store. As of the time of this writing, you can purchase a refurbished 16GB 3rd generation iPad for just $379.
That’s $120 less than the retail price of $499 for the same — albeit new — model that was available just 24 hours ago. This brings the price to $20 cheaper than the iPad 2, also currently available at apple.com. Most notably, this is only $50 more expensive than the just-announced iPad mini. If you aren’t an iPad owner yet, this is the time, as I don’t expect this price to be available very much longer. Apple’s refurbished products have always been pristine and come with the standard 1 year warranty, so why not?
Update: It looks as if the 16GB 3rd generation Wi-fi model is sold out in both colors.
Update 2: They seem to be back, grab one while you can.
