A reference to iBooks 3.0 has been discovered in iTunes over the weekend, within a listing for a book. The discovery was made by French website iGeneration and still appears to be live. According to The Next Web, it couldn’t merely be a typo from the book publisher, since iTunes automatically generates this portion of the information.
What this means is that it was either a coincidental mistake by iTunes, or that iBooks 3.0 will in fact be released at Apple’s media event next Tuesday, October 23rd. It has already been widely rumored that Apple’s event next week would be emphasized towards iBooks and education, so the release of iBooks 3.0 should not be all that surprising.
