With the October 23rd event confirmed by Apple, and the iPad mini the most widely expected announcement, speculation has turned to other devices. Before the iPhone 5, rumor had it that Apple was pushing to release an updated iPad 3, one that would utilize the new Lightning connector in order to remove the 30-pin connector entirely from their holiday lineup.
9to5mac is now reporting that Apple will be unveiling an updated iPad 3 on October 23rd. In addition, there is supposedly twenty-four individual iPad models that are going to be launched. These SKUs count such differences as capacity, color, and the addition (or lack) of cellular technology as completely different models. Regardless, it seems likely that Apple will have another trick or two to reveal for its next event.
